Rotary Club of Madras East (RCME), chartered in 1985, is a premier rotary institution in Rotary District 3232 and is known for its exemplary projects throughout Rotary International. It is a 170-member club, with its members drawn from diverse fields of professions and industries.

UPCOMING PROJECTS

HEALTH CARE
Sponsorship of up to 500 Pediatrics heart surgeries for children from underprivileged backgrounds supplementing the Chief Minister’s Insurance Scheme, in leading hospitals with well recognized surgeons. The patient need not bear any additional cost.
In partnership with Greater Chennai Corporation, RCME aims to set up a fully functional Dialysis unit in Chennai’s Urban Community Health Center that services a population of over 2.5 lakh people.
Smart vision Aid aims to improve the everyday lives of the visually impaired. This aid helps them with navigation, reading, facial recognition using a combination of AI powered glasses and mobile connection.


Vocational Service
The program aims to impart training to unskilled underprivileged women and equip them to become skilled painters. To enable women to earn a livelihood by empowering them with the skill and step into a domain almost 100% male dominated.
We are targeting 1000 underprivileged women every year.


Environment,Sustainability and Conservation
We are looking at restoring 3 lakes in south Chennai. These lakes, when restored, can impact and improve life of more than 6000 families and 650 acres of agricultural land.
Provision and facilitating solid waste management systems and processes to densely populated areas.
To increase tree cover and provide dense canopy cover in the city within a short turnabout time.


Youth service
Install new Youth Clubs in schools and colleges and to bring about effective youth engagement in Chennai.
Career guidance programme for students of Class 10 and 12, in government and government aided schools to help them decide on career paths


Community Service Development
Education is the fundamental right of every Individual. RCME through its school infrastructure project will impact more than 10,000 underprivileged students in schools such as Vivekananda education Society and Ramakrishna Mission
1. Smart Board and content at a value of around RS. 1,50,00,000
2. Science Lab- Updating biology, Physics, Chemistry amd Innovation labs at a value of RS. 25,00,000.
3. Language Learning through soft skills and spoken language training to effectively improve communication amongst students at a value of RS. 25,00,000.
Clean drinking water and sanitation is imperative for the well being of the community. A large number of communicable and bacteria based diseases can be avoided with proper sanitation. As part of this, RCME proposes to build two toilet blocks in corporation identified public areas at a cost of RS. 20,00,000.
Homelessness is a worldwide problem. They lack all basic requirements of life including food, shelter and healthcare. This project aims at improvement of existing facilities of shelters for homeless run by Greater Chennai Corporation at a value of RS. 20,00,000
Beautification of city with themes of sensitizing people on the importance of health and wellness.
Painting government schools/observation homes, government hospitals with emphasize on girl child empowerment.
